About Pinkard
Pinkard Construction celebrates its 61st year serving various construction markets in Colorado, including senior living, affordable housing, and commercial clients. With new ownership, leadership, and branding, Pinkard maintains its fundamental business practices while adapting to the ever-evolving construction and development market.
We Partner, Plan, and Build BETTER
We believe in partnering with our clients and collaborators. From day 1, egos will be left behind, we are an open book, and there will be regular cross-team feedback with all stakeholders. We ensure constructability early, prevent defects through mockups, use BIM to build it virtually, and fill in gaps by asking the important questions. We believe in thoroughly vetting subcontractors, utilizing the best in jobsite technology and creating a safe jobsite so there are no surprises.
Big City Sophistication
We invest heavily in construction technology to provide value and efficiencies to our project teams. Our teams all carry the most updated set of plans in their tablets and collaborate in real-time with the whole team through Procore, our project management software. Projects are extensively documented via drone photography and 360 cameras that catch every angle.
Small Town Integrity
Pinkard Construction Co. was founded by James W. Pinkard in 1962. A 30 year veteran of the Colorado construction industry, Pinkard had worked in every position throughout his tenure. The company was founded on the belief that working hard for your clients and striving for excellence was the right way to do business. As Jim put it, “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
National Acclaim
We carefully select and pursue projects that match our ethos, calibrating our project load to the capacity of our staff - because overloaded people don’t deliver a superior construction experience. Our people appreciate the work/life balance. And our clients appreciate the superior service. The ability of our staff to focus on our projects and prioritize client experience seems to be working for us! We are humbled to count over 85% of project revenue from repeat clients, and we have been honored with 20 National Excellence in Construction Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors that rank our projects with the best in the best, nation-wide!
How We do It
Entitlements
Our team’s extensive knowledge of working with local jurisdictions allows us to transition easily from the design phase into the working construction documents, and on to smooth permitting and inspection during construction. We involve the local authority early in the process so that zoning, plan review, and code interpretation is easy.
Subcontractor Relationships
Pinkard’s primary strategy for accurate and competitive pricing will include pre-purchase agreements to offset the long lead times for materials and equipment and very early subcontractor engagement to allow best-value subcontractors time to make room for us in their schedules and manpower allocations.
Design Collaboration
We hold a partnering kick-off meeting with all significant team partners. We work to define the most effective methods of communication, find the best ways to identify and resolve conflict and define and set goals for success. We form a foundation for effective communication that sets up the project for success.
Warranty
Pinkard’s full-time Warranty Superintendent is your single-source contact for post-completion. His experience working with owners, architects, and subcontractors makes him an effective owner’s rep for dealing with warranty issues. His long-term construction experience makes him uniquely qualified to understand the “trades” side of warranty issues.
Quality Control
Pinkard's quality control program is fourfold. We conduct an extensive document review process. Our defect prevention programs include building it virtually and detecting clashes. We build mock-ups in the field to reduce defects. We have a warranty and close-out process that begins in preconstruction.
Schedule Management
Our project teams believe that the best schedule comes from thoughtful and proactive planning. A thorough and accurately prepared schedule considers realistic scope performance requirements and anticipates the potential for delay from unforeseen conditions, procurement issues, sequencing conflicts, and other issues common to projects such as yours.
Cost Control
80% of your opportunities to control costs and balance your budget with your programming will occur during the preconstruction phase. Our success stems from our ability to get the most out of various cost control processes and teaming exercises to control our owners’ budgets, maximize their programming, and produce exceptional quality.
Construction Logistics
Our creative approach to site logistics is focused on minimizing disruptions to the neighborhood while maximizing our team’s ability to produce quality construction at the lowest possible cost. Our experience in both tight, urban sites as well as rural or mountain areas has prepared us for anything.
