Pinkard achieved an incident rate well below the national average. Pinkard Construction Awarded AGC Commendation for Excellent Safety Record 2023-06-21 Share Share Pinkard Construction, a leading general contractor in Colorado, has been awarded a commendation from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado for its excellent safety record in 2022. The company achieved an incident rate well below the national average. “We are honored to be recognized by AGC for our commitment to safety,” said Dave Ruddy, Pinkard’s safety manager. “Our company culture is centered around job site safety, and we are proud of our employees for their dedication to working safely.” Pinkard’s safety record is a reflection of its comprehensive safety program, which includes regular safety training, toolbox talks, and tailgate meetings. The company also has a strong safety culture, with employees encouraged to speak up if they see something unsafe. In addition to the AGC commendation, Pinkard was recently awarded the AGC and OSHA’s Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) White level in February. The CHASE program is a national safety initiative that recognizes companies for their commitment to safety. In a letter announcing the CHASE award, Bradley Gassman Safety and Environmental Director for AGC said, "Participation in the CHASE program is a reward to a contractor for their dedication to safe working practices on their job sites and providing safety & health training to their employees. This dedication must include a commitment to continue having a strong safety program and an outstanding safety record. I am excited to see the commitment of your company in the pursuit of ZERO injuries." “We are committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees , trade partners, and clients,” said Tony Burke, Pinkard’s president and CEO. “We are proud of our safety record and will continue to work hard to keep our teams safe.” Learn More Anthony Burke, LEED AP, President Connect Jose Amaya, Chief Business Development Officer Connect Mike Warns, Chief Risk Officer Connect Share This Story Share Share More News Sort By Topic Reset Pinkard Construction Welcomes Mike Hager as Senior Project Manager 2025-02-11 Learn More Pinkard Selected to Renovate Historic Machebeuf Hall at Loretto Heights Campus 2025-01-17 Learn More Pinkard Frameworks Promotes Russell Hardcastle 2025-01-29 Learn More Pinkard Breaks Ground on Phase III of The Edge 2024-12-19 Learn More Load More Our Approach Partner, Plan, BUILD. - Pinkard Awarded Denver Affordable Housing Infill Project
Pinkard Awarded Denver Affordable Housing Infill Project 2024-03-14 Share Share Rendering courtesy Radix Design Lakewood, CO - Pinkard Construction Company has been selected to work with Radix Design architects and owner The Empowerment Program to construct the Chrysalis Affordable Housing project at 1777 Franklin Street in Denver. This $20 million project will feature seven stories and 69 units of studio, one and two bedroom units with surface parking and trauma-informed amenity design. The superstructure will consist of a BYLD structural system - light gauge steel framing with metal decks and concrete infill. During the conceptual design phase, Pinkard conducted a highly collaborative design-build-style investigation to assist owner’s representative Community Capital Corporation and the owner/design team to help complete the owner’s challenging proforma. This investigation included cost analyses on various building systems and eventually an agreement with the BYLD team. Chrysalis will be the first BYLD structural system project in the United States. The Chrysalis project will be a highly congested infill with close proximity to several hospitals and other healthcare facilities. This zero-lot-line project will require numerous rights-of-way shutdowns, accommodating a variety of ambulance routes and other restrictive site constraints. Pinkard is already developing a comprehensive neighborhood logistics plan to ease the burden of construction for the neighborhood while maintaining an efficient timeline and construction plan. The project is being designed as a US Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready high-performance building. Chrysalis is funded through the Colorado Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) and will include Davis Bacon wage rates and Section 3 hiring guidelines. Construction duration is 13 months with groundbreaking anticipated to be November 2024. With 62 years of building along the Colorado Front Range, Pinkard Construction is the affordable housing expert. Our affordable housing teams are well-versed in assisting our owner partners in CHFA and other public funding sources and constructing durable, quality-lifestyle housing experiences. In the past ten years, Pinkard has constructed 35 affordable housing projects totaling nearly 6,000 units from Loveland to Colorado Springs. The Empowerment Program is a community that believes humanity is best served by a diverse population coming together to encourage the most caring and equitable relationships between people, providing affordable housing and trauma-informed specialized public health services to help promote a healthy mind and body. We take on a housing-first strategy and aim to address housing needs first. Community Capital Corporation, the owner’s representative, has over 35 years of experience in financing and overseeing affordable housing projects. It is headed by Ken Hoagland, a recognized expert in affordable housing and a board member of The Empowerment Program. The board is fully aware that his company is acting as owner’s representative and has authorized this arrangement. Radix Design is a Denver-based architecture firm which is dedicated to work characterized by social benefit, sustainability, and connection to place. Radix Design has worked alongside the Empowerment Program since 2021 to establish the viability of the Chrysalis site for redevelopment, and to develop the necessary materials and project approach for their successful CHFA tax credit application. - Pinkard Names New Chief Business Development Officer
Pinkard Names New Chief Business Development Officer 2022-06-03 Share Share Pinkard Construction names Jose Amaya as its New Chief Business Development Officer. Amaya, an experienced construction professional with over 35 years of experience, will push the company into additional markets while maintaining controlled growth. "I see enormous potential in Pinkard for markets like healthcare, mission-critical, life science, and aerospace, to name a few," said Amaya. " I hope that we can branch out while still maintaining the same level of construction quality, safety, and client intimacy." Amaya said Pinkard's homegrown history and deep roots in the community are significant differentiators in this crowded construction market. "A company celebrating its 60th anniversary in a market where some of the largest general contractors in the country are competing for work means they offer something the big guys cannot," he explains. "I want to help them scale their business in a way that preserves that client experience." Amaya has served in executive-level business development roles at companies like JE Dunn Construction, Cumming Corporation, and, most recently, Select Building Group Commercial. He has been identifying opportunities and building relationships with Colorado Owners, Developers, General Contractors, and Architectural/Engineering firms for the last 25 years. Tony Burke, President of Pinkard Construction, says that now that the company is completing projects valued in the $100 million range, they are excited to bring their unique capabilities to new markets. He adds that the person representing them must be the perfect mix of Pinkard's past and future. "The diversity of [Jose's] experience is important to why we hired him," said Burke. "The fact that he started his career on the operations side and his work growing small businesses and minority contractors is an excellent fit for Pinkard's culture." Amaya will work closely with Burke and the rest of Pinkard's executive leadership team to formalize a strategy that focuses on client retention and acquisition throughout the Colorado Front Range. - Pinkard Raises Over $92,000 For ACE, Funds 37 Scholarships
The fourth annual Careers in Construction Golf Tournament was held at The Country Club at Castle Pines. The scholarships allow the recipients to attend the private K-12 school of their choice. Pinkard Raises Over $92,000 For ACE, Funds 37 Scholarships 2023-07-06 Share Share Pinkard Construction, a general contractor serving Colorado for over 60 years, held the fourth annual Careers in Construction Golf Tournament at The Country Club at Castle Pines and raised over $92,000. The resulting 37 scholarships allow the recipients to attend the private K-12 school of their choice. Pinkard President, Tony Burke, says he sees an opportunity to nurture the next generation of the Colorado workforce and hopes that these scholarships provide enhanced access to private education for more Colorado students. Above: The first place Foursome, sponsored by IMA Corporation: Brad Johnson, Nick Burns, Bryan Young, and Jeff Walls. “19 Colorado companies and individuals provided generous sponsorships that made the tournament such a success,” said Burke. “The construction industry is facing an unprecedented labor shortage, and we hope that these scholarships allow students to pursue a rewarding career in construction.” Erik Billinger, Western Region President for ACE Colorado, said that ACE Scholarships is proud to be the beneficiary of Pinkard’s 4th Annual Careers in Construction Golf Tournament. “By supporting the tournament, Pinkard Construction and all participating sponsors are providing hope and a bright future for students and our community,” said Billinger. “Our founders believed that success was possible, regardless of income, and that all children deserve equal access to quality education. And for 23 years, we have been working to fulfill that vision. By providing partial tuition scholarships for lower-income students to attend the K-12 private school of their choice, ACE scholars are graduating high school, prepared for college and a fulfilling career.” Jayce Wynn, an ACE Scholarship alumnus, attended the tournament and spoke about how the program allowed him to broaden his education and eventually secure a full-ride scholarship to CU Boulder, where he is currently studying Biomedical Engineering. “I come from a single-parent household with three older brothers,” said Wynn. “Without ACE and sponsors like Pinkard, none of this would be possible. My mom worked very hard but putting 4 children though a private education on an hourly salary is virtually impossible.” Those wishing to support ACE scholarships can visit www.acescholarships.org . - Pinkard Construction Launches Pinkard Frameworks, Expands Self-Perform Wood Framing Division
Pinkard Construction has introduced Pinkard Frameworks, a wood framing division that aims to modernize the wood framing industry. Pinkard Construction Launches Pinkard Frameworks, Expands Self-Perform Wood Framing Division 2023-11-13 Share Share Pinkard Construction, a leading construction company in Colorado, is excited to announce the launch of Pinkard Frameworks, a wood framing division that will serve as a trade partner to developers and general contractors along the Colorado front range. Pinkard Frameworks will continue to self-perform wood framing for Pinkard Construction. According to Tony Burke, President of Pinkard Construction, "We are thrilled to offer Pinkard Frameworks as a separate division to our clients, developer partners, and fellow general contractors. We believe providing a dedicated and specialized team for wood framing projects will streamline the construction process and ensure the highest quality of work." The division is headed by Wood Framing Manager Dan Harris, who has over 40 years of experience in construction. Harris is actively recruiting staff and already has a dedicated project engineer and superintendent. Additionally, Pinkard Frameworks will have access to the resources of Pinkard Construction, which has over 120 construction professionals and over 60 years building multi-family projects, and over 50 wood-framed projects. Pinkard Frameworks aims to modernize the wood framing industry by offering detailed project assessments, identifying value-adds, and ensuring on-site supervision of the wood framing process. "We want to provide our clients with top-quality service that exceeds their expectations," says Harris. "We achieve this by collaborating with truss fabricators in preconstruction, ensuring framing designs that meet architectural and structural intent, seamless integration with other trades, and a budget-friendly, faster, and higher-quality project." Pinkard Frameworks provides preliminary truss design, in-house estimating, and shop drawing reviews to prevent conflicts and cascading issues that stop construction progress for redesigns. The division will ensure that an on-site framing superintendent is briefed throughout the design process and is a trained, experienced carpenter who manages all material and labor to the contract intent. Harris says Pinkard’s recent efforts on Krisana Affordable Housing created a framing design that saved the Owner over $250,000. He adds that Pinkard Frameworks is under contract to provide wood framing services for two other Pinkard projects, akin Tennyson in Denver and Willoughby Corner in Lafayette. "We are excited about the launch of Pinkard Frameworks and look forward to working with our clients to provide them with the best possible service," concludes Burke.
