  • Pinkard Construction Launches Pinkard Frameworks, Expands Self-Perform Wood Framing Division

Pinkard Construction has introduced Pinkard Frameworks, a wood framing division that aims to modernize the wood framing industry. Pinkard Construction Launches Pinkard Frameworks, Expands Self-Perform Wood Framing Division 2023-11-13 Share Share Pinkard Construction, a leading construction company in Colorado, is excited to announce the launch of Pinkard Frameworks, a wood framing division that will serve as a trade partner to developers and general contractors along the Colorado front range. Pinkard Frameworks will continue to self-perform wood framing for Pinkard Construction. According to Tony Burke, President of Pinkard Construction, "We are thrilled to offer Pinkard Frameworks as a separate division to our clients, developer partners, and fellow general contractors. We believe providing a dedicated and specialized team for wood framing projects will streamline the construction process and ensure the highest quality of work." The division is headed by Wood Framing Manager Dan Harris, who has over 40 years of experience in construction. Harris is actively recruiting staff and already has a dedicated project engineer and superintendent. Additionally, Pinkard Frameworks will have access to the resources of Pinkard Construction, which has over 120 construction professionals and over 60 years building multi-family projects, and over 50 wood-framed projects. Pinkard Frameworks aims to modernize the wood framing industry by offering detailed project assessments, identifying value-adds, and ensuring on-site supervision of the wood framing process. "We want to provide our clients with top-quality service that exceeds their expectations," says Harris. "We achieve this by collaborating with truss fabricators in preconstruction, ensuring framing designs that meet architectural and structural intent, seamless integration with other trades, and a budget-friendly, faster, and higher-quality project." Pinkard Frameworks provides preliminary truss design, in-house estimating, and shop drawing reviews to prevent conflicts and cascading issues that stop construction progress for redesigns. The division will ensure that an on-site framing superintendent is briefed throughout the design process and is a trained, experienced carpenter who manages all material and labor to the contract intent. Harris says Pinkard’s recent efforts on Krisana Affordable Housing created a framing design that saved the Owner over $250,000. He adds that Pinkard Frameworks is under contract to provide wood framing services for two other Pinkard projects, akin Tennyson in Denver and Willoughby Corner in Lafayette. "We are excited about the launch of Pinkard Frameworks and look forward to working with our clients to provide them with the best possible service," concludes Burke. • Renovations Get Underway at Broomfield's Bay Aquatic Park

The goal is to reopen the community water park in time for a partial summer 2025 season. Renovations Get Underway at Broomfield's Bay Aquatic Park 2024-10-11 Share Share As the summer pool season comes to a close, construction is now underway at Broomfield’s Bay Aquatic Park. The $10 million “Phase IV” renovation project for the City and County of Broomfield includes the removal and replacement of the primary leisure pool, family slide, body slides, and slide plunge pool, along with the addition of deck space, shade structures, and a new mechanical building. Pinkard was the original general contractor for Bay Aquatic Park when it was first built in 1991, making it one of the first community water parks in the Denver metro area. After 30 years of use, the facility was in need of renovation due to age, condition, and updated health and building codes. In 2022, BHA Design, Inc. and their team, including aquatics architect Counsilman-Hunsaker, were selected to design the project. After funding was secured, Pinkard was awarded the project this past February. The original Bay Aquatic Park upon completion in 1991. Just weeks after closing for the Bay for the season, Pinkard Construction has already completed demolition and is currently in the excavation and site grading phase of the project. Working under an aggressive winter construction schedule, the goal is to reopen Bay Aquatic Park by early July, to ensure a partial summer 2025 season . When the project’s site constraints necessitated that construction vehicles be routed through the residential neighborhood located to the southeast, Pinkard and Broomfield officials devised an outreach plan that proactively engaged the affected residents. In addition to instituting strict hours and speed limits for construction vehicles in the neighborhood, enforced by ample signage and monitoring, City and Pinkard representatives are holding regular “Info Table + Free Coffee” events in neighboring Highland Park where residents can ask questions about the project and air concerns. “We want to be good neighbors,” says Broomfield CIP Manager Brian Graham. “While residents are understandably not thrilled with the construction traffic, many have expressed appreciation for us taking the time to listen to their concerns and for our efforts to mitigate construction impacts. Once soil export and import wraps up this month, the number of trucks entering the neighborhood will reduce significantly for the duration of the project.” For the latest info on the Bay Aquatic Park renovation, Broomfield residents can find project updates, upcoming “Info Table + Free Coffee” dates, and a live camera view of the site at: broomfieldvoice.com/thebayrenovations Learn More Pool and Natatorium Constuction See Projects Recreation Construction See Projects Bay Aquatic Park Phase IV Learn More Share This Story Share Share More News Sort By Topic Reset Pinkard Completes Beautiful 1899 Wynkoop Amenity Remodel 2025-05-29 Learn More Pinkard Carpenter Named Apprentice of the Year 2025-05-19 Learn More Pinkard Hires Eric Kellstrom as Senior Superintendent 2025-05-21 Learn More Pinkard Guest Lecturers Kick Off Inaugural DU Affordable Housing Program 2025-04-30 Learn More Load More Our Approach Partner, Plan, BUILD. • The Value of a Pinkard Internship

We talked to this year's class of summer interns about their experiences and lessons learned at Pinkard Construction. The Value of a Pinkard Internship 2024-09-09 Share Share A college internship can be an invaluable, even life-changing, experience for young people trying to find their footing in the workplace. Some of our very best and longest serving employees came straight to Pinkard from college. So we translate our promise to “Partner, Plan and Build Better” directly into our internship program. As part of our company’s greater belief in mentorship and continuous growth for employees at all stages of their career, Pinkard has long stressed the importance of providing a solid internship program. We believe in the valuable contributions that interns can make when given the opportunity, as well as the importance of training the next generation of construction industry talent. For starters that means paying our interns for their hard work, but the most important thing is providing hands-on experience, learning opportunities, and guidance for the duration of their time with us. With summer winding to a close, we talked with this year’s class of interns about what they learned on the job and how it shaped their outlooks on Pinkard, the construction industry, and their nascent careers. “I felt like Pinkard wanted to invest in my future” To begin with, we asked our interns how they chose to work at Pinkard Construction in the first place. Juliette: I chose Pinkard for my internship because it is a highly respected and long-standing company in the construction industry, known for its excellent employee satisfaction. Pinkard showed a strong belief in my potential and offered a clear vision and pathway for my development in the field. Kane: A lot of the relationships during internships are one-sided, where the company believes the intern needs the company more than the company needs the intern. I felt like Pinkard wanted to invest in my future and cared about my personal career goals just as much as I do. As for how their actual experience compared with their expectations, the results were glowing across the board. For the interns who were new to the construction world, the experience left them with a positive view of our industry. Cassie: I didn’t have many expectations going into this summer because I had never worked in construction before... [but] ...this was a great experience and exceeded my expectations. I learned so much about the world of construction and feel like I walked away knowing I enjoy working in this industry. Juliette: My experience at Pinkard has far exceeded my expectations. The team [I worked with] has gone above and beyond, offering insights and guidance that I could not have gained in a classroom setting. The hands-on experience here has been more educational than I could have imagined. This opportunity has changed my perspective on the industry, and the unwavering support and mentorship from the team have been truly invaluable. “[My team’s] trust in me...greatly enhanced my confidence in my abilities.” When asked what surprised them about the experience, no one seemed to expect how involved Pinkard interns are in the real-world work that we do. Liam: I was surprised about the amount of resources Pinkard provides for their interns. Morgan: The most surprising aspect of my internship has been how swiftly I was able to integrate into the team and adapt to the daily processes. Cassie: I think my biggest surprise this summer was how much I got to do. From my first day I was learning the finer details of the construction process. I have been working on things that I didn’t think an intern would be doing which has been very exciting. Others noted the openness and transparency of Pinkard at all levels of our operation. Kane: I had the opportunity to network with tons of people that have been in the construction industry for 40-plus years. I had great conversations with the CFO and President of Pinkard about my future and what is takes to become successful in this industry. Juliette: My biggest surprise during the internship was how welcoming everyone was. Although I was initially apprehensive about entering the industry as a woman, the team’s openness and support exceeded my expectations. Their trust in me has not only eased my concerns but also greatly enhanced my confidence in my abilities. As for their personal highlights, the responses were wonderfully varied. Morgan: The most fascinating aspect of my internship has been learning about the closeout process. Liam: I gained lots of knowledge on trade stacking and scheduling. Kane: I loved getting firsthand experience as a preconstruction estimator and being a part of estimates involving multi-million-dollar projects that will house thousands of Coloradans. Juliette: The thing that resonates with me the most is how crucial organization is for success. I've learned that being well-organized—whether it's managing materials, coordinating subcontractors, or keeping documentation in order—plays a major role in achieving success in this industry. Cassie: One of the best things I’ve learned this summer is how much I truly enjoy the construction industry. I have met so many amazing people, both from Pinkard and on the subcontractor’s side. I walked into this summer scared that I wouldn’t be able to keep up or even really enjoy the process, but I have learned so much and been so successful. CSU student Juliette shadowed Senior Superintendent Terry Wevers this summer. “Everyone genuinely looks out for one another” When asked about their impression of Pinkard’s company culture after such a short time with us, our people-first approach stood out. Morgan: Pinkard is a company that invests in their employee’s success and growth. I can tell that everyone I’ve worked with works with respect for each other, even through misunderstanding and disagreement or conflict. Kane: Pinkard is a company that built a culture around creating powerful relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and their employees. Pinkard’s transparent culture benefited me by making me feel like I could communicate freely with co-workers allowing my learning capabilities to expand at an unexpected rate. Cassie: Pinkard’s culture is very inclusive and people-first. This entire summer I have felt very comfortable with bringing up any concerns or problems I may have had. I have felt very supported, like the people I am working with truly care about me and my experience, which has made this internship ten times better. As a result, multiple interns said that their time with Pinkard also raised their standards for what to expect out of an employer. Liam: Pinkard has made me more selective and company-reliable for resources in my future. Juliette: My experience at Pinkard has significantly elevated my expectations for what I want in a future company. The supportive environment and strong team dynamics have set a high standard for my career aspirations and future workplace. “Pinkard entirely changed my decision about my future career” When asked how their internships at Pinkard changed their thinking about their future careers, the responses speak for themselves. Cassie: My experience this summer with Pinkard entirely changed my decision about my future career. I wasn’t even looking into construction initially, but after this experience I have decided that the construction industry would be a great fit for me and something I definitely want to pursue. Morgan: This experience has solidified my aspiration to pursue a career as a superintendent. Kane: Pinkard solidified all my hard work in the last 5 years, working hard in the field and working toward my Construction Management degree, by confirming that working in this industry is what a want to do with my life. As for whether they would recommend a Pinkard internship to others, the answers were (at least by this point) unsurprising. Liam: YES! Cassie: Yes, I definitely would! Juliette: I would highly recommend a Pinkard internship. They invest time in teaching and mentoring, which provides a solid foundation for succeeding in this industry. Morgan: Absolutely. The internship has been a valuable learning experience, and I believe it offers great opportunities for professional growth. Being assigned to a dynamic and active job site has enhanced my learning, and the supportive environment at Pinkard fosters development and growth. Kane: I would 100% recommend a Pinkard internship. • Pinkard Completes Safety and Security Upgrades for Over 50 Small Businesses in Aurora

Pinkard Completes Safety and Security Upgrades for Over 50 Small Businesses in Aurora 2023-03-01 Share Share Pinkard Construction, a municipal general contractor celebrating 60 years in Colorado, has completed its contract with the City of Aurora’s Safety and Security Grant Program, bringing over 50 small businesses vital upgrades that allow law enforcement to respond more efficiently and effectively to public safety issues. “It’s truly inspiring to see Pinkard Construction’s impact on the community,” says Kendall Koca, Manager of the office of special projects for Aurora. “This project was an incredible opportunity for us to use their expertise to work directly with law enforcement and business owners to administer the program efficiently.” Koca says that this program is critical to help the City of Aurora meet its safety and security needs and to have made a positive impact on the small businesses involved. The program is part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act economic stimulus bill signed into law in March 2021, providing the city of Aurora with $65.4 million in one-time direct federal aid. It allocated up to $20,000 to eligible applicants to make physical changes related to lighting, alarms, cameras, windows, entrance doors, and mirrors. “This project submerged me in the wealth of diversity within Aurora.” says Nathan Rodriguez, a project engineer for Pinkard. “I got to work with local cafés, churches, stores, and a variety of other businesses. Each with their own stories, needs, and community impact. There is something special in the joy these owners had knowing their local government actively supports them.” Rodriguez says he joined Pinkard for their community-first mindset, evident in the type of work they pursue and the fact that employees get two days of VTO (volunteer time off) annually to participate in service projects together. To date, Pinkard has completed over 90 municipal projects for 37 public/municipal clients across the Colorado Front Range. Construction Expertise Have You Ever Been to a Dirt Summit? Read More ".... [The] team worked really hard to come up with solutions that would get us where we needed to be dollar wise and that wouldn't compromise the design intent too much" Recreation Client "Pinkard came to the table a little better than the architect did as far as coming up with VE solutions" Recreation Client "It was a good team, and there really was teamwork. And I think we all had the same goals in mind. And I think it turned out really well. I think that we delivered a great project and product for the city" Recreation Client "And what was great about at least one of those expectations I had for me that was an over-performing part as the superintendent, Leighton and Troy always listened to me. And there's one thing that I'm never afraid of is I'm going to speak up. If something concerns me, I'm going to speak up. I'm not going to try to be an ass about it but I'm going to let you know that I've got a problem with this or that or whatever it is. They always listened. They always took care of it." Recreation Client "I'm going to be completely honest. I will say that to me-- I can't speak for anyone else in this city. This is just for myself only. To me, you guys over-perform in every area, every expectation that I have."
