Pinkard Tops Out on the Daylight Collective Campus for the Action Center

With renovations more than halfway complete, Pinkard Construction has “topped out” on the new, expanded home for longtime community nonprofit the Action Center. The milestone coincides with the public announcement of the new campus, named the Daylight Collective.

Inspired by the Action Center, the community hub brings a coalition of high-impact, mission-aligned partners together under one roof, so families can find coaching and resource navigation, no-cost food and clothing, health services, workforce and education support, and financial assistance.

Located at 1195 S. Teller St. in Lakewood, Pinkard Construction is currently converting the 107,000 square foot former elementary school into both a service place and a community space. Alongside an expanded no-cost food and clothing market and a new Family Zone, designed to grow the Action Center’s capacity to serve by at least 30%, the campus features shared spaces open to all: a community cafe, an event center, a coffee shop, and a gymnasium.

Additional confirmed Daylight Collective partners include:

• Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH), offering WIC, immunizations, and family planning services

• Paragon Behavioral Health Connections, providing behavioral health care for individuals, families, and children

• CrossPurpose, offering workforce development navigation

• Red Rocks Community College, providing educational programs including a high school diploma program for returning students

• Skyhawks Youth Sports, leading youth recreation and gymnasium programming

• Benefits in Action, helping families access public benefits

Lakewood-based Pinkard Construction, a Catamount Constructors Company, began renovation of the campus in March 2026, with design by Davis Partnership Architects, and project management by Artaic Group. The current renovation footprint covers 82,000 square feet of the building, with room to expand as additional partners join, and includes a newly built freestanding 7,000-square-foot storage-and-distribution building for the Action Center’s food hub. Exterior improvements include expanded parking, roadway upgrades, and a community garden. The project continues an ongoing partnership between Pinkard and the Action Center that dates to 1991, when Pinkard helped convert the nonprofit’s current home, a former post office at 8755 W. 14th Ave.

Daylight Collective is funded through a combination of sources, including proceeds from the sale of the Action Center's existing assets, federal funding with support from the City of Lakewood, foundation grants, and the generosity of individual donors.
