Loveland, Colo. — Pinkard Construction, Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) and Loveland Habitat for Humanity held a Groundbreaking ceremony for the Grace Gardens at Derby Hill affordable housing development on Wednesday, July 14th.
This marks the official start of construction that is expected to continue into 2031. During the first phase, Pinkard will perform site development, including roads and infrastructure. This phase is scheduled to conclude in December 2021. The project was initially made possible by a donation of 12 acres from Grace Community Church, located between 14th Street Southwest and 19th Street Southeast.
Darcy McClure, LHA Director of Real Estate Development, expressed gratitude toward all project partners for all the work done to make this project a reality, championing its goal of promoting affordable housing and affordable homeownership in Loveland.
“LHA is honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Together, we are creating opportunities for home and community through housing,” said McClure.
The project is a joint venture of the Loveland Housing Authority and Loveland Habitat for Humanity. The project consists of 120 apartments reserved for those earning 30-60% of the area median income, while the 47 homes will be available to those making 35-69%.
“We are truly grateful for the Loveland Housing Authority, Grace Community Church, the City of Loveland, Pinkard Construction and many others who have invested in the opportunities that Grace Gardens at Derby Hill will provide for well-deserved individuals and families living and/or working in Loveland,” said Cindi Hammond, Executive Director for the Loveland Habitat for Humanity. “This partnership has helped to elevate the conversation about the immediate need to provide safe, decent and affordable homes in our community.”
Tony Burke, President and COO of Pinkard, says that the project aligns with the organization’s community and a people-first approach to their business, with affordable housing projects as a priority.
“I am extremely excited to be working with Habitat and our longtime partners Loveland Housing Authority. There is a powerful sense of shared mission among all the partners involved because we all know how important affordable housing is,” said Burke. “This project, when complete, will be Pinkard’s 131st multifamily project and 54th affordable housing project.”
Additional project partners include Good Samaritan, which is expanding its campus to the west of Grace Gardens, including affordable housing for seniors; Calvary Church Derby Hill, located just next to the groundbreaking site; Pinkard Construction, Ward Construction, Galloway Engineering, alm2s, Delich Associates, BHA Design Inc, ANB Bank and Brinkman Development.
