  • Strong Pricing and Budget Phase Leadership

Strong Pricing and Budget Phase Leadership Strong Pricing and Budget Phase Leadership March 14, 2022 Share Share CSU hired Pinkard to work with the architect during programming to assist with pricing and budget instead of at the end of schematic design, which is customary with the State of Colorado contract. CSU made this move because they recognized that Morgan Library would be a complex renovation fraught with many unforeseen conditions and complicated sequencing. Also, CSU’s “wish list” amounted to almost 29 million dollars. Their budget was $11 million. By bringing Pinkard in early, CSU mitigated some of the complications of the compressed design schedule, allowing Pinkard to provide significantly enhanced, targeted pricing and very accurate estimates. Pinkard also got a jump on planning the schedule, sequencing and locking in pricing for materials and equipment. One method for locking-in pricing was hiring mechanical and electrical subcontractors very early in design. These subs helped provide accurate ME pricing and pre-ordered major equipment, avoiding price increases that would damage CSU’s budget. To mitigate cost overruns in construction, Pinkard and Studiotrope worked with CSU to create a budget anticipating massive unforeseen conditions. The team “under-budgeted” the project but wrote over 25 add-alternates into the estimate. This way, as Pinkard and Studiotrope found creative field solutions to save CSU money during construction, CSU could activate the alternates as needed. This approach was so successful that CSU could claim their alternates and still have money for additional scope “extras.” Learn More Adaptive Reuse Construction Learn More Higher Education Construction See Projects Renovations and Additions See Projects CSU Morgan Library Renovation and Addition Learn More Share This Story Share Share More News Sort By Topic Reset Pinkard Breaks Ground on Buchanan Rec Center Aquatics Expansion April 2, 2026 Learn More Pinkard Completes The Irving at Mile High Vista Affordable Apartments January 22, 2026 Learn More Pinkard and The Action Center Begin Emory School Transformation March 9, 2026 Learn More Pinkard 2025: The Year in Pictures December 30, 2025 Learn More Load More Our Approach Partner, Plan, BUILD. • Volunteer Stories: Interview Skills for the Next Generation

Volunteer Stories: Interview Skills for the Next Generation Volunteer Stories: Interview Skills for the Next Generation May 14, 2024 Share Share As part of our long, proud legacy of giving back to the community, Pinkard Construction gives all its employees 16 annual hours of VTO , or Volunteer Time Off. In other words, we pay our employees to pursue charity work. Recently, Pinkard HR Administrator Tanya Navarro used her VTO for the first time to give back to an organization that’s near and dear to her heart. “I volunteered with the College Assistance Migrant Program, out of BUENO Center at CU, which provides financial support, mentorship, and opportunities to migrant farm workers and their children,” she explains. “I used to be a beneficiary of the program, so it feels amazing to give back to the next generation.” Putting her HR expertise to good use, Tanya helped conduct mock job interviews with first-year college students, giving them tips, feedback, and real-life practice for how to present themselves. Tanya adds, “A lot of these young people are interested in studying construction, so it was extra special to be able to share the industry expertise I’ve gained at Pinkard to help prepare kids for entering the workforce.” While Pinkard employees can use their VTO on any charity they choose, we also create our own volunteer opportunities through our community outreach program, The Pink Crew , which in the past has included projects for Habitat for Humanity, rebuilding a deck at Jeffco’s beloved Outdoor Lab , and packing and delivering groceries for Food for Thought . In fact, one of the Pink Crew’s biggest events of the year is coming up soon. Going down on Friday, June 7, at the Pinkard Yard in Westminster, Pinkard employees will be breaking out their tool belts to build bed frames for Sleep in Heavenly Peace , an award-winning nonprofit that delivers beds to children who don’t have one. Sign up here! When it comes to the Pink Crew, Tanya adds that there are unexpected benefits too: “When I volunteered for one of the Habitat for Humanity projects, I got to work with Terry Wevers, who is a superintendent with us,” she recalls. “Since I work in the office and he’s out in the field, we don’t have a lot of opportunities to get to know each other, but after volunteering together I got to know a whole new side to Terry. Now we love to crack jokes together, and we work better together as a result.” For those doubting the personal rewards of volunteering, or the difference they can make, Tanya says her volunteer experiences couldn’t have been better: “Everybody has a special skillset and a place where they can be of service. If you share it with people, it makes the community and world around us a better place. I enjoy it so much that I would take personal day if we didn’t have VTO, but the fact that Pinkard recognizes and encourages it is such a bonus.” Learn More Share This Story Share Share More News Sort By Topic Reset Pinkard Breaks Ground on Buchanan Rec Center Aquatics Expansion April 2, 2026 Learn More Pinkard Completes The Irving at Mile High Vista Affordable Apartments January 22, 2026 Learn More Pinkard and The Action Center Begin Emory School Transformation March 9, 2026 Learn More Pinkard 2025: The Year in Pictures December 30, 2025 Learn More Load More Our Approach Partner, Plan, BUILD. • Pinkard and BCHA Celebrate Grand Opening of Willoughby Corner

Pinkard and BCHA Celebrate Grand Opening of Willoughby Corner Pinkard and BCHA Celebrate Grand Opening of Willoughby Corner August 27, 2025 Share Share A spirited ceremony attended by 300 people this past Thursday marked the grand opening of Boulder County Housing Authority’s (BCHA) Willoughby Corner neighborhood. Featuring food, a ribbon-cutting, and remarks from project partners, the event marked a bookend to Phase I of the massive $114 million project ($83 million in hard costs). Located east of downtown Lafayette, the first phase of the landmark permanently affordable development boasts 192 new units of income-restricted housing, comprising a 63-unit apartment building for 55-and-over residents and four multi-family buildings totaling 129 units. The project also includes a 4,480 SF community center, a community garden, and pickleball courts, and $15 million of roads and infrastructure. A model of sustainability, the all-electric development utilizes extensive geothermal and solar energy systems to become what is now the largest Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) community in Colorado. Pinkard Construction completed the project under budget and ahead of schedule this past December, despite a five-month permitting delay. While BCHA granted Pinkard a five-month extension, it remained a critical goal to reach substantial completion before the end of 2024 to meet BCHA’s funding needs. To achieve this, Pinkard had to make considerable adjustments to their manpower, logistics, sequencing and quality control plans. Leaning heavily on its in-house framing division, Pinkard Frameworks, Pinkard was able to frame all six buildings simultaneously, while stacking trades throughout to keep progressing. After a sprint to the finish line, Pinkard was able to attain substantial completion on December 31, 2024, resulting in a $500,000 savings for BCHA. In total, Pinkard completed the entire project in just 15 months. “I’m here to thank the teams,” said Construction Manager Joe Revielle in his speech, “because it takes a big team effort to put a place like this together in 15 months. First off, thank you to the City of Lafayette for working with us to overcome the challenges we were up against. Thank you to HB&A Architects (now RS&H) for designing such a beautiful facility for us. A big thank you to the many people at BCHA that we worked with to make this happen all the way to the end. And finally, I have to thank my team at Pinkard for doing such an exceptional job, and for working through the holidays to make this project happen on time.” “Willoughby Corner is a testament to what we can do when we work together,” said BCHA Executive Director Susana Lopez-Baker in her closing remarks. “This project is a powerful vision. It shows that by leaning into innovation and collaboration, we can create more than just buildings. We can build true communities.” While many families have already moved into the new community, a limited number of homes remain available for people earning up to 60 percent of the Area Median Income, or about $70,000 per year for a two-person household. • Pinkard and The Action Center Begin Emory School Transformation

Pinkard and The Action Center Begin Emory School Transformation Pinkard and The Action Center Begin Emory School Transformation March 9, 2026 Share Share A former public school building in Lakewood will soon take on a new mission of community service. Pinkard Constriction has begun a large renovation converting the onetime home of Jeffco’s Emory Elementary School, which closed its doors in 2022, into a new community campus offering workforce training, community college classes, behavioral health, gymnasium programming and family support services. The campus is owned and anchored by The Action Center, which has served Jefferson County and Denver Metro Area families in need for more than 50 years with services and resources that include a market filled with groceries, hygiene items and clothing, financial assistance, education opportunities, and connections to other important community resources. In addition to relocating and expanding The Action Center’s complete operations, the campus will also be home to other community-serving partner organizations such as Jefferson County Public Health. Designed by Davis Partnership Architects, the current renovation footprint covers 82,000 square feet of the 100,000+ SF building. This will expand as additional partners are brought in to occupy the remaining 20,000 SF. Much of the building will be gutted and reconfigured to fit the various needs of the new tenants, which includes office space, a combined free food and free clothing market, health clinics, a café, and an education center. Scope includes modifications to MEP systems, upgraded access controls, and new skylights, windows, ceiling grids, floors, doors, frames, and hardware. Exterior work includes considerable excavation, stormwater utilities, parking lot upgrades, community garden, and a detention pond. The project also includes the new construction of a freestanding, 7,000 SF, structural steel building that will function as storage and distribution for The Action Center’s food hub, featuring a loading dock, large refrigeration/freezer space, and pallet-sized racking system. The former Emory Elementary School building prior to renovations. In addition to the above scope for The Action Center, valuing $13.2 M in construction, Pinkard is conducting $1.9 M in tenant improvements for a health clinic run by Jefferson County Public Health. Construction is currently scheduled to take 12 months, with the possibility of added scope as The Action Center brings in additional campus partners. The transformation of Emory Elementary is the latest in a long history of collaboration between Pinkard Construction and The Action Center, which have both been proudly based in Lakewood since the 1960s. When The Action Center first purchased their existing headquarters at 8755 W. 14th Avenue in 1991, Pinkard helped make the former post office building habitable, later conducting a comprehensive renovation and addition to the facility in 2001. Then in 2014, as The Action Center’s needs grew, Pinkard helped the non-profit convert and expand the neighboring office building into their new Program Services Building. In the years between, Pinkard has continued supporting The Action Center through various small projects, fundraising, and participation in drives and events. “Pinkard’s 35-year relationship with The Action Center is one of the proudest and most fulfilling in our company’s history,” says Pinkard President Tony Burke. “While we’d all prefer to live in a world where organizations like The Action Center are not necessary, we are grateful they are in a position to expand and combine their services with other partners to meet the growing needs of our community.” “We are thrilled to again be partnering with Pinkard Construction on what will be the most ambitious construction project in the Action Center’s history,” says Action Center CEO Pam Brier. “Partnerships and relationships are the themes that have brought us to this junction, and we are so excited to be repurposing what has been a wonderful community asset as a school into an equally wonderful community asset as a center for community wellness – where we hope all will find a place to gather, connect and flourish.” Learn More Adaptive Reuse Construction Learn More Renovations and Additions See Projects Emory School Adaptive Reuse Learn More Share This Story Share Share More News Sort By Topic Reset Pinkard Breaks Ground on Buchanan Rec Center Aquatics Expansion April 2, 2026 Learn More Pinkard 2025: The Year in Pictures December 30, 2025 Learn More Pinkard Completes The Irving at Mile High Vista Affordable Apartments January 22, 2026 Learn More Pinkard Construction Breaks Ground on Chrysalis Affordable Housing Project in Denver November 21, 2025 Learn More Load More Our Approach Partner, Plan, BUILD.
